Doesn't matter whose id you run the job under you'll keep getting the same error until DB2PM has select authority on SYSIBM.SYSSTRINGS. Most installations grant select on that table (and most of the other catalog tables - there was a thread on this topic a month or so ago) to PUBLIC, so this error doesn't occur. [...]

If you do a search on -101 you will find a thread on this topic. Is not necessarily complex & long queries which produce -101s on V6. We had two occurrences of 'lock table.........in exclusive mode.' producing a -101. This is hardly a complex statement ! [...]

I have seen similar problems with UDB 5.2 server which result from DB2 triggering a DR WATSON error. I have found that trying to connect or remotely start the DB2 service again gives us a similar error message as the one you received - and eventually worked out that if there is a DR WATSON pop-up window on the NT server (waiting for someone to click OK/Canel) you will get this error. As soon as the pop-up window is cleared, I have been able to restart the DB2 services. [...]

for saving the data in a relational table, I would suggest using two fields (integer), NODEID and PARENTID. The NODEID is a number assigned to the nodes in your hierarchical tree. The PARENTID is the NODEID of the parent. The root node can be identified with PARENTID=0 (or PARENTID=NODEID, or PARENTID=NULL). This scheme does not support links because then you have two or more parents, i.e. a n:m relationship, but that is probably ok. [...]

After the rebind, one of our packages was doing a matching index scan on the primary index when it had apparently been doing a matching index scan on the secondary index prior to our maintenance. Hello all, In my neverending quest to get stored procedures to work with the AIX version of DB2 7.1, I've run into the following situation. I can get the stored procedure to be recognized by the DBM, it registers correctly and if I load it into the cute little "Stored Procedure Builder" application, I can run it correctly. You may just have to start from the begining.

Assuming that the Modify Utility hasn't removed the entry, you would get a row in Syscopy for each partition of a tablespace which was recovered with a value of 'P' in the ICTYPE column. This indicates a RECOVER TOCOPY or a RECOVER TORBA.

SYSCOPY has an entry of type 'P' if a tablespace has been recovered to a previous point in time using the recover utility. It's not entirely true that unless you specify 'FOR UPDATE' or 'FOR READ ONLY' that the cursor is ambiguous. Cursors are immediately categorized as read only if they contain an ORDER BY, DISTINCT, table join, etc; as there is the potential that materialization will occur and therefore cursor position is not applicable. As the SQL Procedure language is based on the ANSI SQL99 standard it 'maybe' the case that if the create procedure statement as defined in this standard does not support cursors as a in or out parameter to a stored procedure then this option is not open to you if you are using purely generated code from SPB which is not wrapped by another layer. Hi listers, As part of my job, I review all DB2 programs before they move into our test environment. This has to do with the QUERYNO column. In long programs, DB2 uses 0 for the queryno field when the query number exceeds 32767. In that case, there will be a problem since the queryno will not be unique. The TIMESTAMP column may be used in that case to get a unique value. I was sure I knew the answer to this (I didn't think it was allowed) but when I read the syntax diagram it DOES seem like it's allowed.
So....
I created a tablespace with PRIQTY 12000 and then created another one with the same PRIQTY but with NUMPARTS 10. The one with no NUMPARTS creates one pageset with a primary size of 250 tracks and the one WITH NUMPARTS creates 10 pagesets each with 255 tracks(!). [...]

Of course, the optimizer is changed quite a bit going to a new version. Sorting, and thus using DSNDB07, is an access path and optimizer decision. Could very well be that one or more access paths changed in your environment and application mix. [...]

But this application is all dynamic SQL, and we're having the problem with several statements. And, of course, confusing the matter is that all of these programs worked for the first week following the upgrade. And programs that worked on Tuesday have also stopped working. Very curious! [...]

I believe you need to leave the subject line blank but in the message say "SIGNOFF DB2-L" without the quotes. When you return, do the same thing except the message should say "SUBSCRIBE DB2-L".
Enjoy your vacation.

I sucessfully altered my VSAM file, and added volumns, and then sucessfully ran DSN1COPY copy on a large partitioned table. But I have the following questions still,
1) For very large tables, will VSAM files always need to be altered to add volumes to be successful, each time there is a change in tablespace, tables, etc, etc, or is this a one time thing? [...]

I don't think there is any place in DB2 which gives you information at the column level. Of course inserts and deletes are at 'row' level and so any plan/ package doing and insert/delete may be interpretted as doing it for all the columns of the table; but not for updates. [...]

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Someone knows if it is possible to create scripts (script center - db2 control center) for connections between db2connect and db2 os/390?
Thanks, Marcelo.

Hello M.Saif, and others, What some prior posts have described might tell you which programs/plans/packages have the *ability/authority* to update... columns in a table.
But you are asking for documentation on which plans actually contain update/insert statements affecting specific columns. As James Campbell has noted, the information you really need to review is in SYSSTMT/SYSPACKSTMT tables for static SQL and only available for Dynamic SQL by having traces on all the time. Have a [...]

You probably need all the products Compuware sells.
Just kidding. This is a big question. From my half-vast experience in my prior life as a DBA supporting development and production projects, I'd suggest you need products in the following categories: [...]

They look like the length fields preceeding a varchar. DSNTIAUL will put these in before varchars - and character constants. Look at SYSPUNCH to see what DSNTIAUL thinks it is outputting.
You might have to use something like SUSBSTR(col,1,max-length-of-col) to make it fixed length. (Most commonly SUBSTR(',',1,1) for a comma constant.) [...]
