I'm planning to give IBM 704 ADVANCED DATABASE ADMINISTRATION certification test.

Can somebody give me the soft copy of the following book.

"Advanced DBA Certification Guide and Reference for DB2 Universal Database v8 for Linux, UNIX and Windows".by Dwaine Snow, Thomas X. Phan

OR Any other related material can be helpful.

Thanks

Ali Hasnain

But if your NT/Windows staff are any good, it's really a trivial effort to update every single client. Ours wrote a little startup script that copies the db2cli.ini file to the client at boot time or logon time. That way we can be sure that every client has the same db2cli.ini file. In fact, we can automatically install db2 connect the same way. In talking with our NT/Windows staff, they said that blowing out files this way was really easy over the network. Hi Julie,

DB2 V5 *used* to be supported under z/OS 1.4.....I won't go into the fine print, but unfortunately we still have a couple of production systems running this scenario (and they are just fine - so long as you don't want support). PQ86037/UQ86868 introduced a new insert algorithm for spaces defined with member cluster/pctfree(0)/freepage(0). See the doc on PQ86037 for a better description, but at a high level, with this applied, DB2 will skip the exhaustive search of available spacemap pages prior to extending a dataset which could lead to available pages being skipped as you describe. If this is the case, you can avoid this by altering pctfree to be > 0. Why did you change from DBA-Xpert to IBM's DB2 Admin Toolset ?

I already did some testing with this tool on an IBM-site. ( by use of the internet ).

Why do you find the BMC-change-manager-tool less complex ? Why is it better for less-seasoned DBA's ? Can you compare it with IBM's Admin Toolset ? We had to change due to corporate directions outside of the DBA groups. The preference, functionality, or adaptability of one product over another was not an issue.

Why do we find BMC/CM less complex? That statement is based on the increased need to check DDL/JCL produced by the IBM tools more than on use of the ISPF screens. Both interfaces require practice but in this point the IBM tools can be less convoluted ergo less complicated in this particular. The BMC tools supply more "hand-holding" functions as a structure change is implemented and migrated.
