If you have followed other threads on DB2-L lately you must have seen the one that discussed using IMS Checkpoint/Restart for DB2 tables. Using this for batch jobs fits nicely into you requirement for 2-Phase Commit coordination between both database managers. For on-line transactions, 2-Phase Commit is also managed nicely by either CICS or IMS TM for a transaction that updated data in both IMS & DB2. [...]
