Dear DB2-L members:
The IBM User Experience team is looking for volunteers to give us feedback on whether Javadoc can replace some of the existing documentation for the IBM Data Server for JDBC and SQLJ (informally known as the JCC driver). I checked the Zparm but couldn't find any parameters relating to Java, and the DB2?WLM address space has NUMTCB=8 , but I think that is for the number of threads for the address space itself & not java related. In relation to the Zaap , our MVS systems Sysprog advised that we can not turn it on until we pay IBm the one time change. [...]

The opinions on this seem to range from the additional overhead of 7 & 8 being "negligible" to "use with caution".

Negligible is correct. Most of the work is already done for classes 2 and 3. The overhead for 7 & 8 is just the update of extra internal counters. I remember seeing this info from IBM when class 7/8 were first introduced, but it was so long ago I haven't been able to track down the reference. I wonder what the total number of pages you had in your buffer pools (on system you decided 200000K was a good number). I'm thinking for my big subsystem a outbuff of 200000k is about 4% of the size of my buffer pools.
And as for loads, I'm thinking there may be a ratio between size of buffer pools and the size of OUTBUFF that may be a good number to use. So I'm curious as what your numbers are like. [...]
