We do several hundred tables (over a thousand) and about 20-30 databases with minimal issues using jobs that have been fully automated.
There's even a process semi-automated for programmers to copy a production image copy into their test environment. [...]

As for the thread, a simple question can lead to a complex answer. Since 'SURPOSSEDLY' I have some experience and certification recognition within this subject area, I thought it would be wise to highlight some of the more common issues/questions/areas to explore when one starts down the road of Data Privacy. It is a complex arena and with a lot of road bumps. [...]

What size of production data are you copying? Is it TB? If any of test objects are dropped/re-created don't you need to update the DBID/OBID translation?
I've tried to test this out once before based on the steps in the manual, but was missing something. And since the whole obid/dbid translation process hasn't suck into my brain well enough where I actually understand it I'm hesitent to go down this road just going through the motions. [...]

But be ready for a bunch of Control Center changes that will drive you nuts. The DB2 UI team really hosed up a number of things, including the fact that you now have to logon, over and over again when starting query windows, connecting to DB2 instances, etc. My systems guy, was really upset by the way the instances are now seperated into nodes and not collectively grouped under a specific server. Oh and another of my favorites, the buffer for each query window [...]

The application creating the indexes on the DGTT in my previous post implemented a change to only create the index if more than x number of rows and accounts were inserted into the DGTT. This has really reduced the number of index creations and my DBM1 TCB time. I am attaching stats from a sample 'before' and 'after' day for the curious. CPU time accounted to the application has gone down too - with no response time problems. [...]

3955 143 37_Can DB2 access CICS signed on userid?13_ARTHUR SANNEN32_ARTHUR.SANNEN@SYDNEYWATER.COM.AU30_Tue, 1 Jul 2008 09:24:55 +1000539_us-ascii Hi
When a DB2 call is made from our CICS system (CICS TS 3.2 on z/OS) DB2 sees the transaction Id as the 'user' information. In my triggers/stored procedures I would like to know who the 'real' user is that is logged on to CICS.
I had been hopeful that I could use the CLIENT_USERID that was introduced in DB2 V8 but that seems to be exclusively for 'off-host' systems. The other option I can think of is to set a system variable in the signon exit but my friendly sysprog seems uncertain how to go about that. [...]
