It is not necessary to have Data Capture Changes enabled.
For DELETE and INSERT statements you always have the entire image in the log, so these are not a problem.
The challenge is the UPDATE statements since DB2 only logs from the first to the last changed byte, so you don't have the entire before and after image. In this case and you don't have DCC enabled, use Image Copy Detail in your reporting option. [...]

No need to be sorry. You're of course right; if you drop and recreate a tablespace to effect any kind of change, doing PIT recoveries to any point prior to the drop are, shall we say, a challenge. That's not a 'feature' specific to Change Manager though; it's true of any change process that drops an object to effect a change to it. [...]

Unfortunately I don't have a DB2 site, only rented time on one. However, Patrick was kind enough to point me to an IBM web page from which I can download a trial licence for DB2 Connect, which should be enough for my purposes.

Also ran it as a SPUFI (DB2 I rather than a batch job) and got a reasonable response -

z/OS: MTH TBL-Name aTyp Ix-Name 0 ACTIVE_STUDENT I XSACTSTU6 1 TEST_INDIC_FACT I XTSTIND1
On z/OS, a nested join is used (double iteration), meaning that the inner table (TEST_INDIC_FACT) is accessed multiple times (be it through an index), once for every Active_Student. During this process, all rows of TEST_INDIC_FACT are accessed. So the access through an index is actually an overhead, not an advantage. [...]

Simplest would be: 1. Wait for DB2 "next". 2. Cross fingers, hoping the feature is there. 3. "ALTER TABLESPACE" to Universal (PBG).
Could someone confirm that this will indeed be possible with DB2 "X" ? [...]

Did you run this using the standard EXPLAIN? If so can you send examples of how you've gotten this to work.
